Great teaser, Jeff! I feel the claustrophobia closing in around me now.
ReplyDeleteThanks. It gets worse, the claustrophobia that is.
DeleteLove this teaser. Sent chills down my spine!
ReplyDeleteThanks. Chills, that's what I want to hear.
DeleteI could actually feel it getting colder as I read each line. Excellent.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Nothing colder than the grave.
DeleteExcellent teaser!!! BTW - I gave a shout-out for Untethered Realms today!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the mention.
DeleteI don't think I want to go where she's going. Sounds dark and scary.

Thanks. It becomes much darker when the door locks and the candle goes out.
DeleteIt looks so creepy down there! Don't go!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the A to Z Challenge!

Enjoyed the teasers! That's how I walk down stairs sometimes too. Stairs are scary in general. :)
ReplyDeleteNice. I think of the horror stories I read or watch at the movies, where I am screaming, "Don't open the damn door. Run." But she opens the damn door, in the dark of night, to check out the grisly creepy sound. to your post I'd scream "Don't go down the damn stairs!" Instead, down she goes into the underground to face.......well, it's your story not mine.
ReplyDeleteYou had me at "Victorian Gothic". Sold.
ReplyDeleteOoo. I'm scared and cold. I can feel the heat from the flame... we have this huge lava tube here... called a lava cave, and they give you these lanterns to light your way. They get really hot and burn your legs (only open in summer). So, your excerpt reminds me of that.
ReplyDeleteI think that's what is so fascinating about old places--how many hands, or feet have been there and makes you wonder what they saw or felt.
ReplyDeleteIn these sort of places I definitely want a light. I was visiting a cave not long ago and my husband laughed when he saw I had a bright led flashlite in my purse. Never leave home without it if I'm visiting dark dank places, lol!
