We've reached the end of the alphabet and the A to Z Blogging Challenge.
If you haven't heard of the A to Z Blogging Challenge, check out the A to Z blog. Why not visit a few of the participants or look back over some of our creature-themed posts?
Here at Untethered Realms, we took on the Challenge as a group. Each day, one of us shared with you a fantastical creature that may be from one of our books, a favorite movie, or something we just came up with as entertainment.
For our last post we have...
Z is for Zombie

It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of anything zombie related. Books, TV series, or films. I'm not sure exactly what attracts me to them, but the struggle for survival is probably one reason. End of the world scenarios, apocalypses, or extreme disasters have always fascinated me. What would each of us do or be capable of doing in such a life or death situation? How far would we go to defend our loved-ones and families?
While I have not yet written a novel related to zombies - I intend to one day - they did feature heavily in one of my dark fiction stories from Passing Time. In Dining in Hell, I had great fun writing them into what was a truly horrific day for a small group of plague survivors.
What about you? Do zombies fascinate or repulse you?

And the winner of the X-Factor competition, the creature with the most X is... [drum roll]
Tawa! A guardian to one of the Fearless and stuffed hippo. [wild applause]
Yo! Congrats!
Zombies are perhaps my least fantastical creature. But given how much I like the fantastic they still rate surprisingly high. Congratulations to Tawa - and I hope she can watch her back. I am not sure she is entirely safe from the other contestants.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for a thoroughly entertaining (albeit sometimes icky) A to Z.
Tawa won? Yay! :)
ReplyDeleteAs for zombies, they can be hit-or-miss for me, I must admit. Some zombie stories I really love while others just leave me going, "Meh..."
Tawa's doing a happy dance! Or, rather, I'm making her do a jig. Her being a stuffed hippo and all. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of zombies too and for the same reasons. It's not about the zombies themselves, but those that are alive and struggling to survive.
I'm a bit squeamish about zombies but I like how Christine turned it around - the story being about the struggle of the living. I'll have to keep that in mind.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to UR for completing the A to Z! A big WOOT for us all.
Tawa...watch the rinse cycle. You might want to use bottled water. Just sayin'...
I'm like River and a little squeamish about zombies.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Tawa the superstar. I hope Jezebel doesn't do anything too drastic since she lost.
Zombies are quite disgusting, but zombie apocalypse stories are fascinating.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy most zombie stories I've read. Not too big on watching them but that's just because I scare easily.

I'm more than squeamish about zombies. I won't touch a story including them... or serial killers... or spiders.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Tawa!
I was the lead of the locally made film "Zombie High" where I played Grandma Betty, the high school janitor by day and the ZOMBIE QUEEN by night. It was hilarious and quite a fabulous memory!
ReplyDeleteGlad to come for a visit on this final day of the challenge. Hooray for A to Zing!

Congratulations, Tawa! You were my second pick.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on completing the Challenge you guys!
Congrats to Tawa!
ReplyDeleteAnd zombies can be pretty interesting, although sometimes disgusting creatures.
They must repulse me, because I tend to avoid zombie movies, shows, and books. Don't really know why.
ReplyDeleteZombies-not my favourite. They seem like they would be a bit stinky and they move so slow that one could just blast them. It must be just me:) It is the last letter and I love your Unethered World -it was a blast to read everything each day-Thanks for writing all of this
ReplyDeleteI've been preparing for zombies. Biking and running daily. Eating better. Added another sword to my collection, a high-quality cutter.
ReplyDeleteWhen the undead come-a-knocking, I'll be rocking.
I enjoyed Zombieland, but I'm not keen on the Walking Dead. the movie World War Z was excellent and those were fast zombies. I doubt I would do well in a zombie apocalypse - I'm slow. thanks for visiting and a job well done.
ReplyDeleteLots of zombie posts today! I'm not usually a big fan, but I did like Warm Bodies. Congrats on finishing the challenge!
ReplyDeleteBig fan of the 28 Days Later movies. (Fingers crossed for another sequel.) I have yet to get on the Walking Dead bus, but I have only heard good things.

Zombies kind of creep me out. So I will eave them with you. But it is a finishing Z word. Congratulations on reaching the end. Maria, Delight Directed Living

"Set phasers to 'repulse'"
ReplyDeleteSorry, zombies aren't for me. While I'll read pretty much anything between book covers (or whatever the equivalent electronic phrase may be) it will take an awful lot of time before I get to the z-books.
So, my mileage does vary :)
Congrats on getting through to the end of the challenge.
Haven't read zombie stories, but I do love Walking Dead and Warm Bodies and Zombieland was pretty good. I'll avoid zombies myself, but I do enjoy watching other people deal with them.
ReplyDeleteLooks like Zombie was a popular Z word.
I'm not too into Zombies, I think their just a little too creepy for me.
ReplyDeleteI am deeply fascinated by everything zombie, I just love the nature of the stories, the basic survival.
ReplyDeleteZombies are certainly popular now. Go for it. Congrats on making it to Z!
ReplyDeleteHi Ellie and UR members .. congratulations on your take through the A-Z .. and Zombie - I'm not that keen on them and hope I never meet any anywhere! But I suppose if they're struggling to live as Christine suggests then I should be more empathetic ..?!
ReplyDeleteCheers Hilary
