Here at Untethered Realms, we're taking on the Challenge as a group. Each day, one of us will be sharing with you a fantastical creature that may be from one of our books, a favorite movie, or something we just came up with as entertainment.
Today we have...
T is for Time Demon
canstockphoto.com
A Time Demon is the villain in the title story of my science fiction collection, Taking Time. When I wrote the story, I decided no mortal man would do for the part. My protagonist, a vampire called Victory Dead, needed a worthy foe. So, I created a new type of demon - a Time Demon. Double the size of any man, I gave the demon razor sharp horns that covered his head and back; one horn for each life or time he'd taken from a victim.
My demon had taken many lives.
Does he take the immortal time from Victory Dead? You'll have to read the story to know how the battle ends.
On April 28th, Untethered Realms will be holding an X Factor competition to find the creature with the most X. You can help to pick the creature that wins by voting.
For the X Factor, I'm entering my Time Demon. Each creature entered will be asked three questions. Don't forget to stop by and vote.

Your Time Demon is a truly nasty critter. Getting nastier and more powerful with each victory. Only the size of his head and back gives him any limits.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing the other contestants for the X factor.
Elephant's Child - he definitely is a nasty critter!
ReplyDeleteThe Time Demon sounds deliciously demented...and a worthy contestant for the X Factor. :)
ReplyDeleteI like the description of your time demon and reason for how his horns appear. Nasty.
ReplyDeleteOoo, I love how you took demons and made them work for your story, especially with the horns.
ReplyDeleteThis time demon sounds like you don't want to mess with him.
ReplyDeleteYour Time Demon sounds cool. Especially since he was something you created. Love new creatures.

Ooh sounds devilish!
ReplyDeleteVery awesome creation, deliciously fun.
ReplyDeleteI think the Time Demon is real. He takes hours from me every day. Why else would I always be behind?
ReplyDeleteBet you wouldn't want to bump into him with all those horns.
ReplyDeleteWill be back to vote!
While the Time Demon is impressive, I'm a big fan of Victory Dead. :)
ReplyDeleteI want to know more about Time Demon society now...like, can they steal time and life from one another?
ReplyDeleteInquiring minds, and all that....
Nice. I like it when authors create new demons. :-) He sounds like a nasty one. Good idea for the A to Z!

ReplyDeleteShan - I hadn't thought further than the one character, but now that you mention it...yes. They can steal from each other, so they travel alone ;)
Teresa - thank you :)
Sounds like a great plot premise, Ellie, the idea of taking away time, and having it manifest as the demon's horns.
ReplyDeleteYikes! That's one scary dude. His name alone scares me :)
